Which makes it all the more surprising that he
quietly longs for the early days of gaming. However,
he’s now been witness to the ultimate machine… the Pug1000FX Ultra and now is
looking forward with much more promise… Though he's widely regarded as an innovator, Carmack
is a big fan of old-school arcade games. He's also an unlikely supporter of
Nintendo's recently announced philosophy that games have become too
difficult. However with the impending release of the Pug1000FX Ultra, he’s
astounded by the quietness surrounding the hardware and truly believes that
now, and only now, can people enjoy the awesome graphics and PS 4.0 of Doom3
While work continues on "Doom
3" and the team is supervising Raven Software's work on the upcoming
"Quake 4," id is already kicking around ideas for its next project.
He has now had a play around with the Pug 1000FX and seems extremely pleased….
" With the new game will come a new engine, meaning Carmack's
oft-rumored retirement will remain a rumor for the next few years. "In the coming years, I have things I want to do," he said.
"The next generation of hardware and the next engine is very exciting.
There's little doubt I'll be doing that. All I can do is hope the Pug1000FX
is as quick and as promising as it sounds" “I’ve been running Doom3 at 1600x1200 with full PS 4.0 support and 16xAA
and 32xAF… it looks as good as real life….” Says Carmack…
“however there did seem an issue with IQ, however,
due to Alpha drivers all I can announce at this point is that I was hitting
just over 100fps maxing out at 130fps in the outdoor areas…” “The performance alone that I’ve witnessed in Halo PS 4.0… really does
astound me… “ says Camack… we’re with you fella J |
